A 50- year- old mother of five claims she was as­saulted by two po­lice of­fi­cers. Mar­garet McGar­rie vowed to sue the Chief Con­sta­ble of Strath­clyde for over £ 17,000.

But giv­ing ev­i­dence in a Civil Proof at Ayr Sher­iff Court, the two po­lice of­fi­cers de­nied act­ing im­prop­erly and in­jur­ing her.

Mrs McGar­rie, of Dalmilling Drive, said on Novem­ber 18, 1987, she her daugh­ter Margo had been in­volved in an as­sault and rob­bery on a fe­male Prov­i­dent col­lec­tor and told po­lice.

Mrs McGar­rie said she was hurt dur­ing the bid to hand­cuff Margo.
