Shop’s grand cheque gift

-

A Maybole shop raised £ 1,250 for a good cause last month.

Staff at the Co- op on Main Street gathered funds in aid of a Maybole girl at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow.

Young Eilidh MacKay, 16, suffers from acute lymphoblastic leukaemia, a type of cancer that affects the white blood cells.

She was in the hospital for a year, home for a few weeks and has been back in hospital for the past three months.

Dad Kenny said that when they heard that funds had been allocated to them, he and his wife Lisa and family wanted to share it with others to help improve the quality of life while they are in the hospital.

Kenny picked up the cheque for £ 1,250 from the store.

Store manager Alastair Travers said: “I’m glad to have helped the cause out.

“Part of our business is getting involved in the community - and this is a great highlight of that.
