Auchinleck Academy

Close run in basketball cup clash for boys

Ayrshire Post - - INTIMATIONS -

Boys on the Auchinleck Academy basketball team came up short in the latest adventure on their Scottish Cup journey.

They faced Dumfries Academy, with both sides heading into the game with two wins out of two, and the game didn’t disappoint.

Auchinleck started strong with quick baskets for Matthew Morrison and Michael Miller before Dumfries found their shooting boots and started to take the lead.

Jordan Mouzer and Ben Medhurst show two huge three pointers and tied the game just the end of the first half. Early in the 4th quarter, Ruaridh Airlie got important rebounds at both ends to keep the game close.

With two minutes to go, the game had just two points in it before Dumfries capitalised on sloppy passes to win by 6 points, 63- 57.

The Auchinleck boys never gave up, and were a credit to themselves and the school. They now have two important games against Stewarton Academy and Williamwood High School to make the quarter finals.
