Charges fol­low­ing al­leged break- in

Two peo­ple have ap­peared in court af­ter men al­legedly ran­sacked an Ayr home and used a woman’s car as a get­away.

Pa­trick McHugh, 41, of Glas­gow, faced two charges of hame­sucken and rob­bery ( force en­try) and theft.

Hame­sucken is pur­su­ing some­one into their home and as­sault­ing them.

Both made no plea or dec­la­ra­tion when they ap­peared on pe­ti­tion at Ayr Sher­iff Court last Wed­nes­day.

They were re­manded in cus­tody pend­ing fur­ther po­lice en­quiries.

Both are ex­pected to ap­pear in court for a sec­ond time next week.

Po­lice be­gan their in­ves­ti­ga­tion af­ter an al­leged rob­bery in Thornyflat Place, Dalmilling on Tues­day, Jan­uary 23.

Men al­legedly forced their way into the home and threat­ened a 21- year- old woman with the weapons and vi­o­lence be­fore tak­ing car keys to a red VW Golf and ran­sack­ing the house.

A po­lice spokesman said: “Two men, aged 40 and 41, have been ar­rested and charged in con­nec­tion an in­ci­dent in Thorny­road Place. Ayr.
