Ramblers plan walk to castle ruin at Eglinton

Ayrshire Post - - News -

South Ayrshire Ramblers are organising a pleasant, mainly suburban walk of about 11 miles on paths, tracks and minor roads on Saturday, March 17.

From Dreghorn, the walk passes through several other districts of Irvine to reach Eglinton Country Park, where it passes the Standing Stones and Loch before arriving at the remains of Eglinton Castle.

After visiting the Dovecote, the return route continues through the outskirts of Irvine to the starting point. Despite its length, the walk is very easy, as the entire route is almost flat.

The terrain is such that a good pair of walking shoes will be adequate for those not wishing to wear boots.

Anyone wishing to join this walk, but requiring further information, should contact the leader Robert Pollock on 01292 315765.

The meeting point is the public car park at Prestwick Town Rail Station, for 8.50am departure.
