Glasgow Ayrshire Society’s dinner party
An enjoyable evening was held at the Western House in Ayr recently.
The Glasgow Ayrshire Society had their 256th dinner at the venue.
Under the chairmanship of the Revd Fraser Aitken who is the minster at Ayr St Columba Church members and directors welcomed two speakers to the evening.
The society which is managed by a board of directors was formed back in 1761, and provides financial assistance to people in Ayrshire or Ayrshire connections, who are in difficult circumstances, particularly the elderly and infirm.
They also provide financial help to Ayrshire students to assist them with further education plus they also support Ayrshire based charities based on character building or educational nature.
At the dinner the toast to the City of Glasgow was made by the Revd Jonathan Fleming who is the minister of Largs St John’s and linked with Cumbrae Parish Church.
The toast to the County of Ayr was made by Lord Robin McEwan who has had a distinguished career in the world of Scottish law
