It’s go for gala day
Troon Gala has been fixed for Saturday, June 23 after a squabble over stall hire has been fixed.
The date clashes with The Holy Fair with Armed Forces Day and Pipes in the Park on Ayr’s Low Green.
And it was thought all the council’s stock of 80 stalls were needed.
Now it’s been confirmed 25 stalls will be available and set up in Troon.
The tab will be picked up by South Ayrshire Council after the budget just set scrapped the charge for community galas.
Last Tuesday night Troon Community Council chairman Helen Duff said the Holy Fair got top priority from South Ayrshire and was unfortunately taking place on the same date.
Councillor Phil Saxton revealed a letter from departing council director Lesley Bloomer said the dates clashed due to accessing national funding and the availability of massed pipes.
