Bookfest joy as Dame Judi guests

Ayrshire Post - - Bob Shields -

Dame Judi Dench and a galaxy of stars are heading for this year’s Boswell Book Festival.

The eighth annual festival will take place over three days at Dumfries House.

Dame Judi opens it on Friday May 4 and will give a book signing on the Saturday.

Best selling author Anthony Horowitz, Sally Magnusson, Matthew Parris, Alexander McCall Smithy, Fleet Street cartoonist Michael Heath will join WW2 Veterans of the Arctic Convoys and tennis mum Judy Murray.

The Children’s Festival will be held at the Engineering Centre at Dumfries House to make the weekend more family- friendly.

Festival director Caroline Knox said: “This is our biggest most ambitious, and starstudded programme in the eight years of the Festival.

“It is brimming with life stories that span a Dame, a Yogi, a Cardinal and a Rapper, a mix which would have delighted Auchinleck’s James

Boswell, the inventor of modern biography.”

Main author talks are just £ 9, see next week’s Ayrshire Post for the full details.
