Drugged- up driver took Val­ium

a drugged- up driver didn’t know what day of the week it was when he was pulled over by the po­lice.

christo­pher baird from Hill­crest in bells­bank, Dalmelling­ton was stopped by of­fi­cers on septem­ber 15 after he left his in­te­rior light on in­side the car.

ayr sher­iff court heard baird’s speech was slurred and he had dif­fi­cul­ties re­mem­ber­ing what day of the week it was.

the 28- year- old’s car also rolled back­wards and hit the po­lice ve­hi­cle be­hind.

so­lic­i­tor iain gil­lies said: “Mr baird had un­for­tu­nately taken a cou­ple of Val­ium.

“He told the po­lice of­fi­cers his hand­brake wasn’t work­ing prop­erly.

“He know’s he’s go­ing to re­ceive a ban and will prob­a­bly lose his job.”

baird pled guilty to driv­ing a car while un­fit to do so through drink or drugs.

He was fined £ 500 and banned from the roads for one year.
