Drugged- up driver took Valium
a drugged- up driver didn’t know what day of the week it was when he was pulled over by the police.
christopher baird from Hillcrest in bellsbank, Dalmellington was stopped by officers on september 15 after he left his interior light on inside the car.
ayr sheriff court heard baird’s speech was slurred and he had difficulties remembering what day of the week it was.
the 28- year- old’s car also rolled backwards and hit the police vehicle behind.
solicitor iain gillies said: “Mr baird had unfortunately taken a couple of Valium.
“He told the police officers his handbrake wasn’t working properly.
“He know’s he’s going to receive a ban and will probably lose his job.”
baird pled guilty to driving a car while unfit to do so through drink or drugs.
He was fined £ 500 and banned from the roads for one year.
