A77 road resur­fac­ing planned

A num­ber of resur­fac­ing and im­prove­ment projects along the A77 will take place this month.

Works are be­ing com­bined into two week­end phases, in or­der to keep dis­rup­tion to an ab­so­lute min­i­mum for com­muters and freight traf­fic us­ing this busy route.

Dur­ing each phase it will be nec­es­sary to close the trunk road.

This ex­ten­sive pro­gramme of work will see the resur­fac­ing of over 8,000m2 of car­riage­way at var­i­ous lo­ca­tions be­tween Cairn­ryan and May­bole.

Traf­fic man­age­ment has been de­vel­oped tak­ing into ac­count the Ayr Rail­way Sta­tion dis­rup­tion to travel.

Scot­land Transerv will al­low spe­cial ac­cess for the al­ter­na­tive bus ser­vice to be es­corted through their site.

Phase one has al­ready taken place, with the sec­ond phase set for the week­end of Fri­day, Oc­to­ber 26 ( 8pm) to Mon­day, Oc­to­ber 29 ( 6am).

This sec­ond road clo­sure will al­low for four schemes resur­fac­ing the A77.

This pro­gramme of works will in­clude:

• Burn­side, north of Gir­van, con­sist­ing of 509m2of patch­ing works

• North of Al­gi­nate Fac­tory at Dip­ple, north of Gir­van, con­sist­ing of 391m2of patch­ing

• Turn­berry south gate­way, con­sist­ing of 1942m2of patch­ing

Mo­torists are ad­vised to al­low ad­di­tional time for their jour­ney.
