A77 road resurfacing planned
A number of resurfacing and improvement projects along the A77 will take place this month.
Works are being combined into two weekend phases, in order to keep disruption to an absolute minimum for commuters and freight traffic using this busy route.
During each phase it will be necessary to close the trunk road.
This extensive programme of work will see the resurfacing of over 8,000m2 of carriageway at various locations between Cairnryan and Maybole.
Traffic management has been developed taking into account the Ayr Railway Station disruption to travel.
Scotland Transerv will allow special access for the alternative bus service to be escorted through their site.
Phase one has already taken place, with the second phase set for the weekend of Friday, October 26 ( 8pm) to Monday, October 29 ( 6am).
This second road closure will allow for four schemes resurfacing the A77.
This programme of works will include:
• Burnside, north of Girvan, consisting of 509m2of patching works
• North of Alginate Factory at Dipple, north of Girvan, consisting of 391m2of patching
• Turnberry south gateway, consisting of 1942m2of patching
Motorists are advised to allow additional time for their journey.
