The new play goes all online

-

Acclaimed Kilmarnock author David F Ross has finished his first‘stage’play.

It is in rehearsal this week . . . from the cast’s homes.

Not content to wait for theatres to reopen, David has created a script for a cast of three to be created and viewed online. It will be made available via the Ayr Gaiety’s new online site https:// lockdown.thegaiety.co.uk/

“‘The Rise and Fall of the Miraculous Vespas’has done really well as a novel and I’ve been itching to get it on stage,” said David.“But I realised it could work with each of the characters being at home and creating a show over Zoom in the play. It’s been rewarding to see the script coming to life with such a great team.”

Actor, Director and Playwright Stuart Hepburn started rehearsals for ‘Miraculous’last week, with a cast of outstanding Scottish actors. Colin McCredie plays occasionally naïve Grant Delgado; Tam Dean Burn the ever-driven Max Mojo and Sarah McArdie as Norma Niven the‘objective’ journalist.

The play charts the timeless story of the quest for pop immortality. Working from home but with technical support from Into Creative’s Stephen Cameron, the team are tackling the piece with a full rehearsal schedule. Scotland’s longest running touring company, Borderline Theatre Co are producing the show with Ayr Gaiety theatre for the new‘Gaiety Lockdown Season’. In three, 15-20 minute acts, the Rise and Fall of the Miraculous Vespas will be shown on the Gaiety channel, linked to live discussion with cast from July 28.
