Solar farm plan decision is deferred

-

PLANS for what would be Wales’ biggest solar farm have been put back another month.

On Wednesday, Anglesey Council’s planning committee had been due to decide on proposals by Countryside Renewables for the 50mw development at Rhyd y Groes, near Rhosgoch and Cemaes.

The plans were deferred back in March, with further delays due to the local elections and the need for a further site visit.

But the decision was yet again delayed on Wednesday, due to one of the expected public speakers not being given enough advance notice of the meeting.

According to the applicants, the presence of the solar panels would generate enough power for over 15,000 homes as well as handing over community benefits worth £300,000 for local schools.

But the proposals have been opposed by local town and community councils, with almost 100 letters of ojection also being sent to the planning department.
