Coleg Menai students to represent Wales in Rome tournament
TWO students from Coleg Menai have recently been selected to represent Welsh Colleges under-18s at this month’s Roma Caput Mundi Invitational Tournament in the region of Lazio in Italy.
Striker Osian Jones from Llanfairpwll and defender Harri Hughes from Pwllheli are both in their second year of the BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma Sport (Performance and Excellence) course.
Their lecturer, former professional footballer Marc Lloyd Williams, will accompany the squad as team manager.
Williams said: “Osian and Harri have worked consistently hard for the past 18 months and improved as players.
“They thoroughly deserve their selection following their performances during the trial process of the past few months and they have shown a great attitude, desire and commitment to succeed.”
He added: “I am proud of their achievements to date.
“This is the fourth year we’ve been invited to play in the tournament and it is a fantastic experience for the players and staff to pit their wits against some great teams.
“It’s a tough schedule but one both Harri and Osian will learn and benefit from.”
