A second dream has come true for football-mad weightlifter Gareth Evans, who won Wales’ first gold medal at the Commonwealth Games. Gareth, 32, from Holyhead, was chosen to launch Wrexham AFC’s home kit for next season alongside Ifor Williams Trailers, who are sponsoring the club for the third successive year. He was so delighted he hoisted club captain Shaun Pearson on his shoulders to celebrate the arrival of the new strip. Gareth, who works at the Canolfan Brailsford sports complex at Bangor University, said it was a thrill to be on the pitch at the Racecourse, home of the club he has supported since he was five years old.
