Bass Player

TERESA KELLY

THE REVERSE, AMBER BUGS

-

What was your way into bass? A friend I knew from another band needed a bass player for a new project, and after a couple of drinks I volunteered. He taught me some tunes and we played our first gig the next weekend. I bought a cheap Shein bass off eBay, mostly because I really liked the colour. I used a Fender Jazz on the new Amber Bugs EP and I’m going to add one to my collection. I’d like to get a Bass VI too.

What bass gear do you currently use?

I play a Sterling Sub, which I love, and I have a fretless which needs to get out more. Effects-wise I use a distortion pedal, but otherwise I keep it clean. On the new album with the Reverse, we recorded the bass parts live using an Ampeg SVT400 amp and a Classic 1x15 cab.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given about playing bass? Practice!

Who is, or was, the greatest bass player ever?

Carol Kaye is a legend. So many amazing lines and still going strong in her 80s. She’s an amazing musician.

What are your current projects?

Our new album, Which Way Out, is out on Blang Records. www.thereverse.co.uk, www.theamberbugs.com
