Man charged over abusive behaviour
A man has appeared in court charged with being threatening or abusive towards another person at a pub in Batheaston. Julian Paul Fillary, 43, of Elmhurst Estate in the village, allegedly committed the offence on July 7 at the George and Dragon pub. The charge reads he “used towards another threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour with intent to cause that person to believe that immediate unlawful violence would be used against him by any person, or to provoke the immediate use of unlawful violence by him whereby that person was likely to believe that such violence would be used, or it was likely that such violence would be provoked.” Fillary did not enter a plea when he appeared before Bath magistrates on August 3. He was released on conditional bail. Under the terms of which Fillary must not go to the pub. He will next appear at Bath Magistrates’ Court on August 29.
