HMRC fraud call warning
A warning has been issued after a man in Bath received a phone call claiming to be from the revenue and customs department. An automated voice informed him that a warrant had been issued for his arrest, complete with the warrant number and suggested before the case was sent he should call HMRC and ended “don’t ignore”. The man instead reported it HMRC and Action Fraud and found out it is a well-known fraud aimed at the elderly and vulnerable. In July, a man in Bristol fell prey to the scam and paid the fraudsters £1,000. If you receive such a call report it to Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040.
