Inspiring students to future success

Bath Chronicle - - OPINION -

St Mark’s School, a co-educational secondary school in the heart of Bath, seeks to inspire students for future success by developing confidence, ambition and independence, whilst encouraging a strong sense of adventure. We achieve this through: • high quality teaching delivered as a result of a programme of continuous improvement • our dynamic curriculum, with opportunities for all types of learners • our careers programme and extensive enrichment opportunities • a Christian ethos which encourages our young people to thrive as principled, well-rounded young men and women • a nurturing and caring pastoral system that provides support and guidance for all our young people Since his arrival at St Mark’s in September 2014, our headteacher, Barnaby Ash has laid the foundations for a new and exciting stage of the schools’ future development. The catalyst for change has been a new, dynamic and deeply committed senior leadership team who have driven innovation and change within curriculum, teaching and learning and pastoral aspects of the school. This work was integral in the school achieving its best ever set of GCSE results in 2017. Due to rapidly improving confidence in the school from the local community and as a result of demographic changes in the city of Bath, the student population is projected to increase dramatically over the next five years, with the school taking in its first bulge year group in September 2018. The governing body and school staff are committed to the school’s growth and the opportunities it brings to our focus on excellence in education.
