Bath owls set to go under the hammer
After delighting visitors and residents for the past three months, the Owls of Bath have flown the nest ahead of many being auctioned for local charities. Sixty-two of the decorated flock of will be sold at the Minerva’s Owls Auction will raise money for Royal United Hospital Cancer Centre, Bath Young Carers Centre, Roman Baths Archway Project and UK Little Owl Project. The auction will take place at The Apex Hotel in Bath on October 17, with bidding expected to start in the region of £2,000. It has already attracted considerable attention, with owl fans from across the UK and as far as the USA. The ‘Owls Hoot Farewell’ auction preview takes place on September 29 and 30 September, when all of the owls will be displayed on the Bath Recreation Ground for an owl-themed weekend, expected to attract over 10,000 visitors.
