Bath owls set to go un­der the ham­mer

Af­ter de­light­ing vis­i­tors and res­i­dents for the past three months, the Owls of Bath have flown the nest ahead of many be­ing auc­tioned for lo­cal char­i­ties. Sixty-two of the dec­o­rated flock of will be sold at the Min­erva’s Owls Auc­tion will raise money for Royal United Hos­pi­tal Can­cer Cen­tre, Bath Young Car­ers Cen­tre, Ro­man Baths Arch­way Pro­ject and UK Lit­tle Owl Pro­ject. The auc­tion will take place at The Apex Ho­tel in Bath on Oc­to­ber 17, with bid­ding ex­pected to start in the re­gion of £2,000. It has al­ready at­tracted con­sid­er­able at­ten­tion, with owl fans from across the UK and as far as the USA. The ‘Owls Hoot Farewell’ auc­tion preview takes place on Septem­ber 29 and 30 Septem­ber, when all of the owls will be dis­played on the Bath Recre­ation Ground for an owl-themed week­end, ex­pected to at­tract over 10,000 vis­i­tors. Tick­ets for the auc­tion are £45 and in­clude a cham­pagne re­cep­tion, five course meal and auc­tion cat­a­logue.
