Waterproof map cases were the order of the day when Avon Schools held their second group of races in the 2018/19 Orienteering League in cold, wet conditions at Blaise Castle, Bristol. Winning their classes, and scoring 100 points for Kingswood School in the senior team competition were Oliver Tonge (Year 11, 5.3 Km, in 37:26 m.), Seb Crow (Year 10,4.2 km, in 104.17) and Alberta Fryer (Year 9, 3.2 km, in 57:04). Completing the team were Jamie Dale (Year 11 scoring 62), Katia Volkova (Year 8 scoring 50) and Praeasha Limbu (Year 8 scoring 11). Their team total stood at 423. In the primary team competition the class winners for Kingswood Prep School were James Ardus (Year 6, 1.4 km, 11.59) and Alex Lowe (Year 5, 1.4 km, 11.19), scoring 100 points each and assisted by Ben Lowe (Year 5, 1.4 km, 11.54) scoring 95, Hans Mcphedran (Year 5 1.4 km 14:48) scoring 76, and Henry Mcauley (Year 5, 1.4 km, 15:26,) scoring 73. Their team score was 550. Those results left Kingswood School still leading the senior team competition with 1011 points (out of 1200), followed by Redmaids High School with 773. In the Primary contest Redmaids High Juniors lead with 1033, followed by Kingswood Prep with 994. The next Avon Schools League event will be at Oldbury Court, Bristol on Sunday November 11.
