Team Bath Net­ball’s Char­tie Cur­tis and So­phie Drake­ford-lewis will go into Satur­day’s British Fast5 Al­ls­tars Cham­pi­onship as new­ly­crowned con­ti­nen­tal cham­pi­ons af­ter help­ing Eng­land U21 re­tain the Net­ball Europe ti­tle. The Univer­sity of Bath stu­dents, who are sup­ported by San­tander and White­ley Sports Schol­ar­ships re­spec­tively, were joined by alumna Paige Reed in a 12-strong Roses squad that im­pressed through­out the three-day com­pe­ti­tion in Antrim, North­ern Ire­land. Af­ter beat­ing the host na­tion 68-19 in their open­ing fix­ture, Eng­land were 90-26 vic­tors against a Wales squad cap­tained by new Team Bath Net­ball sign­ing Leila Thomas and fea­tur­ing Team Bath NPL play­ers Ge­or­gia Jenk­ins and Christina Shaw. Eng­land – coached by Sam Bird and Univer­sity of Bath grad­u­ate Emily Perry – se­cured gold with an­other dom­i­nant per­for­mance against Scot­land on Sun­day, win­ning 89-31. Cur­tis, Drake­fordlewis and Thomas are all back in ac­tion this week­end as Team Bath Net­ball com­pete in the British Fast5 All-stars Cham­pi­onship at the Cop­per Box Arena in Lon­don. Club le­gend Stacey Fran­cis is also re­turn­ing to the Sitec-spon­sored Blue and Gold for the tour­na­ment, tak­ing place from 1-6pm on Satur­day. Tick­ets are avail­able at www.fast5all­stars.com.
