Banff International String Quartet Competition
The 13th Ban! International String Quartet Competition will take place 26 August – 1 September 2019. Established in 1983 and recognised as one of the world’s premier chamber music competitions, BISQC is a celebration of chamber music in a festival format attracting enthusiastic capacity audiences. The unparalleled exposure to concert presenters, managers and broadcasters from North America and abroad makes BISQC a career launching pad for all invited ensembles. The winning quartet receives a custom-designed, three year artistic and career development programme worth over $150,000, which includes a $25,000 cash prize, concert tour and a two-week residency at Ban! Centre including the production of a CD. All ten quartets invited to participate are provided return transportation from their home to Ban!, as well as room and board for the duration of BISQC.
