Which crab has the strongest pinch?

-

Anyone who has tried to break through a coconut husk – even with the aid of an axe – will not be surprised that this honour goes to a crustacean that can destroy these impenetrable fruits with their bare pincers. The coconut (or robber) crab is an enormous relative of hermit crabs and the largest terrestrial arthropod, weighing in at up to 4kg. The claws of the biggest specimens can exert a pinch force of 3,300 Newtons – more powerful than the bite of any terrestrial predator other than alligators. They also wield their mighty claws in defence and fights with

rivals.
