When I first moved to Brighton, one of the first things I did was check out my local park. For me, it’s a little escape from the city bustle. If you look closely, a feral pigeon really is a striking bird. Its feathers are not just smoky grey but are iridescent around the neck. I wanted to capture an intimate portrait of these often overlooked birds so I lay on the grass to achieve a low angle shot. Katie Nethercoat, Brighton, UK
