Winners of the 15 categories and highly commended entrants will have their images showcased in a touring exhibition and stunning photo book. They will also be invited to an awards ceremony in London.

BBC WILDLIFE ANIMAL PORTRAITS AWARD

We are delighted to announce that BBC Wildlife Magazine is once again sponsoring the ‘Animal Portraits’ category. BBC Wildlife Magazine editor, Sheena Harvey, says: “This competition is a great opportunity for nature photographers of all levels who have captured an image of a wild animal that they are particularly pleased with, to impress the judging panel with their skill. I’m really looking forward to seeing the entries.”

THE CATEGORIES

The competition closes on 8 June 2018 and category winners will be announced in autumn 2018. The 15 separate categories include ‘Animal Behaviour’, ‘Urban Wildlife’, ‘Habitat’, ‘Botanical Britain’, ‘Wild Woods’, ‘Close to Nature’, ‘Marine Life’, ‘British Seasons’ and a special ‘Wildlife in HD Video’ award. There are also two junior categories that are free to enter for young people. Luke Wilkinson’s cute fox cub image was also highly commended in the 2017 competition.
