NI food and drink com­pa­nies cel­e­brate over­seas trade deals worth over £400k

FOUR North­ern Ire­land food and drink firms with prod­ucts rang­ing from co­conut wa­ter to oys­ters have won new over­seas busi­ness worth over £400,000.

Niche Drinks in Lon­don­derry, B Free in Co Ar­magh, Co­coMojo in Lis­burn and Kil­keel firm Rooney Fish will be sup­ply­ing prod­ucts to China, the United Arab Emi­rates and Europe.

They have re­ceived food busi­ness de­vel­op­ment guid­ance and ad­vice from eco­nomic de­vel­op­ment agency In­vest NI.

Its di­rec­tor of trade Ali­son Gowdy said: “This is a fan­tas­tic re­sult for North­ern Ire­land’s big­gest man­u­fac- tur­ing in­dus­try and show­cases the in­creas­ing ap­petite around the world for North­ern Ire­land food and drink.”

Rooney Fish will be ship­ping its Mill Bay oys­ters to Hong Kong in a £50,000 deal. Niche Drinks will send Quiet Man Ir­ish Whiskey and Ir­ish Cream Liqueurs to Rus­sia un­der a £340,000 con­tract.

And Coco Mojo will send its co­conut wa­ter to China in a £10,000 deal.

B Free, which is based in Dublin and has op­er­a­tions in Cross­ma­glen, will send its gluten-free foods to the United Arab Emi­rates in a £50,000 deal.

Niche Drinks fi­nance di­rec­tor Robin Young said: “Our long-term growth plans are pro­gress­ing well and we con­tinue to fo­cus on build­ing our ex­port sales.”
