A FORMER Londonderry culture chief has been named the new chairman of Arts & Business NI.

Martin Bradley is succeeding Dr Joanne Stuart at the helm of the organisation following her six-year tenure.

Mr Bradley is best known for his role as chairman of Culture Company 2013, the body responsible for presenting Londonderry as the first UK City of Culture.

Dr Stuart was praised for leading the charity through a period in which it broke away from the UK organisation.

Mary Nagele, chief executive of Arts & Business NI, described Dr Stuart as an “inspiring” chairman. “Her vast experience, networks and confident direction have both guided and strengthened the organisation — we have grown our membership, raised our profile and developed and enhanced our brand,” she said.

“Now six years as an independent company, we are stronger and deeply rooted within the cultural and private sector.”
