‘We are trying to help firms in away that is not traditional’
WHEN we launched Ulster Bank Boost, we wanted to help local businesses in a way that goes beyond traditional business banking.
We know that running any company comes with its own everyday challenges and growth plans are sometimes pushed down the priority list.
So, we wanted to provide small business owners with a platform and an opportunity to think about their growth plans. This includes providing access to insight, expertise and networking opportunities.
I feel privileged to be one of Ulster Bank’s Business Growth Enablers tasked with helping local companies to boost their knowledge and connections. To do this, we run events that cover relevant issues such as how to pitch your products and services, accounting, recruitment, and even more specialist topics like how to protect yourself from cyber fraud.
We’ve engaged with many hundreds of local business owners since we launched Boost, and we are currently running a series of free-to-attend growth-focused events called ‘Boost Bites’ across Northern Ireland. These deal with topics including exporting, leadership and digital marketing. They all feature talks from local business people who have a great growth story to tell.
The first event in our Boost Bites roadshow took place recently at the Millennium Forum, with a packed room full of entrepreneurs and small business owners. Attendees heard from inspiring speakers and talked to each other about their own experiences of growing a company.
