NI com­pany wins £1m New York deal in data an­a­lyt­ics

A NORTH­ERN Ire­land data com­pany has won an ex­port deal worth £1m in the US.

Aquaq An­a­lyt­ics will be analysing mar­ket data for a New York global in­vest­ment man­age­ment team as part of the deal.

It’s re­cruited 27 new staff in the last six months, with salaries of around £30,000, in­clud­ing 11 who will work on the new con­tract. It em­ploys 90 peo­ple in to­tal from its base in Queen Street, Belfast.

In­vest NI chief ex­ec­u­tive Alastair Hamil­ton said: “Aquaq An­a­lyt­ics has shown a strong com­mit­ment to ex­port­ing which is con­tribut­ing to the com­pany’s sig­nif­i­cant growth and en­sur­ing that it is grab­bing the at­ten­tion of ma­jor firms in the US.

“The com­pany has used In­vest NI trade sup­port to visit the US a num­ber of times. It is now in a very good po­si­tion for fur­ther growth in the US, a mar­ket which of­fers sig­nif­i­cant op­por­tu­ni­ties for North­ern Ire­land busi­nesses.”

The firm spe­cialises in high­speed data­bases for mul­ti­ple in­dus­tries and has re­ceived In­vest NI sup­port of £138,000 to­wards the new jobs. Chief ex­ec­u­tive Ro­nan Pair­ceir said: “The range of sup­port we have re­ceived from In­vest NI over a num­ber of years is reap­ing sig­nif­i­cant div­i­dends.”
