Ma­chine learn­ing and ar­ti­fi­cial in­tel­li­gence are ad­vanc­ing at a tremen­dous pace, redefin­ing the role of pro­fes­sion­als in the work­place. So what im­pact will this have for ac­coun­tants and fi­nance pro­fes­sion­als in the fu­ture?

Char­tered Ac­coun­tants Ul­ster So­ci­ety will host Are you Dig­i­tal Ready? - Dig­i­tal Dis­rup­tion & What It Means for You, a half­day con­fer­ence spon­sored by event part­ner Danske Bank on Novem­ber 15 at the Ti­tanic Ho­tel in Belfast, to look at the ef­fects of dig­i­tal dis­rup­tion.

The con­fer­ence will ex­am­ine the po­ten­tial im­pact of dig­i­tal tech­nolo­gies and the lat­est think­ing from in­dus­try ex­perts on what it might mean for the ac­count­ing pro­fes­sion and how best pro­fes­sion­als can adapt for the fu­ture.

The con­fer­ence will hear from a range of ex­perts in Dig­i­tal Dis­rup­tion, in­clud­ing An­drea Cof­fey of Google on the im­pact of tech­nol­ogy in the next decade. Amongst oth­ers, del­e­gates will also hear from Sea­mus Cush­ley and Tony Price of PWC, Mark Thomp­son of A&L Good­body and Andy Har­bi­son of Grant Thorn­ton.

Top­ics cov­ered at the Con­fer­ence will in­clude Big Data, Cy­ber­se­cu­rity and GDPR. Del­e­gates will have the op­por­tu­nity to ask ques­tions of an in­dus­try panel dur­ing a busy morn­ing of de­bate and anal­y­sis, all chaired by Steve Orr of Cat­a­lyst Inc.

Ul­ster So­ci­ety chair­man, Niall Harkin said: “Dig­i­tal dis­rup­tion is hap­pen­ing all around us and the pace of change is ac­cel­er­at­ing. This event will be specif­i­cally tai­lored to ex­am­ine how it will im- pact on Ac­count­ing and Fi­nance pro­fes­sion­als, whether in prac­tice or in in­dus­try. This will be an im­por­tant and worth­while event for any­one work­ing in fi­nance who wants to get ahead of the changes which are trans­form­ing busi­ness for­ever.”
