THIS fine Victorian detached house was originally an old stone cottage dating back to 1886, which has been extended into an elegant family home.

Set on a beautiful mature site of around an acre and bounded by trees, this secluded home feels like it is in the heart of countryside rather than close to the city.

The current owners have created a graceful yet modern home, with a relaxing ambience.

As well as the extensive gardens, there is a courtyard area with multiple outbuildings which include a games room, office and a large conference room.

The accommodation is also extensive and includes a drawing room, formal dining room, modern kitchen with breakfast area, utility room, study, sitting room, downstairs WC, wet room, four bedrooms, master with en suite and a family bathroom. The house is part double-glazed and comes with a Newair ventilation system.

Character abounds inside and the welcoming hallway is finished with a Canadian maple wood floor and original window shutters.

The drawing room is a restful space, with a glorious marble fireplace with multi-fuel stove, corniced ceiling and picture rail.

The dining room also has period features and a hole in the wall style fireplace. The kitchen has been beautifully styled in sympathy with the history of the house, but is a contemporary space for family living. There is an exposed brick feature wall and painted tongue and groove ceiling.

Fitted wooden units house an integrated Smeg hob and Neff oven, and there is space for a fridge and plumbing for a dishwasher. As well as a built-in breakfast bar, there is plenty of room for a dining table and chairs.

The kitchen is also nicely finished, with a Canadian maple floor and a quaint window seat overlooking the gardens.

A separate utility room has fitted units, granite work surfaces and an old-style Belfast sink.

A second sitting room features another stunning marble fireplace with multi-fuel stove, and a door opening onto a patio. There is also a study with built-in shelving.

Upstairs and a landing return surprises with a decadent wet room with drencher shower.

On to the first floor and the rooms all have period beauty and the master features a lovely slate fireplace and built-in robes and comes with a modern en suite shower room.

The second bedroom also has a cast iron fireplace, builtin robes and a vanity unit with basin, while bedroom three has an original fireplace.

The family bathroom is an ultra stylish space with a white panelled bath and feature tiling. Twin wash-hand basins are set in a separate vanity units.

A fourth bedroom also comes with attractive built-in robes.

Outside, the multitude of outbuildings includes an office room with a built-in kitchen and cloakroom with WC.

There is also a reception room and a conference room with doors opening to a studio; a garage, stables, a wood store, store room, potting shed and a barn which has been converted into a modern games room.

The house is surrounded by delightful gardens featuring extensive lawns, mature trees, landscaped beds, walled vegetable patch and a paved sitting area.
