APARTMENT living is to rise to a whole new level of luxury in Northern Ireland with the launch of a unique new scheme in Belfast city centre.

The Matic, which has just been unveiled by Village Homes, will offer for the first time a 24 hour concierge service as well as a private 22 metre swimming pool and gymnasium for residents.

Village Homes will create an iconic new 12 storey Matic building which will feature 75 apartments, four of which will be plush penthouses.

Situated on Chichester Street and Gloucester Street, the £13m scheme will have a unique design with two towers joined by a central private residents’ garden.

The building is named after John Dunlop, an inventor who lived in Belfast and who patented the pneumatic tyre in 1887.

Dunlop was also a veterinarian who set up a practice on Gloucester Street where he was working at the same time.

The Matic is the first of four premier city centre residential schemes planned by Village Homes (NI) Ltd which together will provide over 275 new city residences at a total value of over £35m.

The three further city schemes will be located at Queen’s Square, the former Nambarrie building at the corner of Victoria Street/ Waring Street, and Montgomery Street.

Speaking about the Matic, Alan Fraser of Village Homes (NI) Ltd said: “We’re very proud to be bringing an apartment scheme of this standard to Belfast. The Matic is on a par with some of the finest city residential schemes in Europe; the design is both modern and classic with natural stone brick and glazing giving an ultra-contemporary look and feel.”

Simon Brien Residential, who is handling the sale of the new complex, says: “Confidence across the housing market is growing and Belfast is increasingly becoming one of the most attractive and vibrant cities in the UK to live and work.

“Along with recent accolades such as being named the best UK city at the Guardian and Observer Travel Awards, combined with the trend of urban living continuing, the timing of the launch of The Matic could not be better.

“We anticipate exceptional demand from both private individuals looking for a prestigious city residence not previously available in Northern Ireland as well as investors.”

The first apartments will be released on May 26 with a choice of one, two and three bedrooms.

Work on the construction will start in early summer with the building complete by the end of next year.

The developers describe the architecture of the building as “modern, classic and detailed” and it will incorporate natural stone and brick with seamless glazing.

At ground level the building will welcome with a dramatic floor to ceiling glazed entrance which will lead into a luxurious lobby inspired by five star hotels.

Residents will enjoy the convenience and luxury of having a 24 hour professional concierge facilities for the first time in Belfast.

The building will also have secure underground parking with chargers for electric cars and a store for bicycles.

The residents’ garden will be positioned above the fitness suite between the two buildings and will offer a quiet and private oasis away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

The apartments will each have a high end finish throughout with contemporary designer kitchens and bathrooms, high quality flooring and integrated lighting.

The bathrooms will have a five star hotel appeal with drench shower heads, anti-steam mirrors, bespoke vanity units, chrome towel rails and branded sanitaryware.

Bedrooms will have sleek fitted wardrobes and the apartments will be painted and have engineered wood flooring in the hallways and reception rooms, with tiling in the kitchen and bathrooms and carpet in the bedrooms.

Reception rooms will feature dramatic floor to ceiling windows and sliding doors to balconies.

Each apartment will also be fitted with smart multi-room wiring, secure video intercoms linked to the concierge, and mains supply smoke and carbon monoxide detectors with battery backup.

Central heating will be Phoenix Natural Gas with the option to control it remotely from your smartphone.

The apartments have been designed to be energy efficient with high levels of thermal insulation.
