THE WATER’S EDGE
Enjoy the beauty of endless sea views against a picturesque mountain backdrop on one of the province’s most beautiful stretches of coastline.
SITTING on the coast in the beautiful Queen of the Glens area of Glenariff with a spectacular mountain backdrop and looking out across the sea, Fallowvee Cottage simply can’t be beaten on location.
Summer or winter this home will captivate with the natural beauty of its surroundings and a garden that reaches down to the water’s edge.
On a clear day the views look out to the Mull of Kintyre and the Isle of Jura and Islay.
There is also the potential to build your own pier or slipway if you fancy exploring the coast by boat.
The area is one of the most stunning stretches of coastline in Northern Ireland with the quaint seaside towns of Glenarm, Cushendal and Carnlough all close by as is Glenariff Forest Park.
The house has an interesting history having previously been part of Lady Londonderry’s Estate and was gifted by her to Sir Winston Churchill.
It has been sensitively updated and inside offers quaint, comfortable accommodation with lots of character and yet it has an overall modern feel throughout.
It is also licensed as rental accommodation and has won the Tourist Board “Cottage of the Year” award and in high season can command a holiday rental of £600 a week.
This is one of those properties that you really do have to see to appreciate and if the location doesn’t win you over then the cosy interior just might.
There are two bedrooms, a modern bathroom, good sized kitchen and a living/dining room.
The living room is a perfect seaside retreat with a rustic fireplace, old stone flagged floor and sliding double glazed doors bringing the sea view in and allowing you easy access to the garden.
An archway leads from here into the kitchen which is fitted out with cream shaker style units and also finished with an old flagged floor.
Upstairs and there is a double bedroom with a fireplace and sea views and a twin bedroom with Velux roof windows.
The bathroom is spacious and fitted with a white suite which includes a panelled bath with mixer taps and power telephone hand shower. There is attractive feature tiling on the walls and the floor has a travertine tiled floor.
Outside the house is accessed through double entrance gates and there is a pebbled drive with parking for several cars.
The gardens which stretch to the water’s edge are in grass and there is a former pier which could be rebuilt as a birth for a boat.
