ISUZU, manufacturer of Northern Ireland’s best-selling D-max pick-up, is launching their most extreme and exclusive model yet — the Arctic. The new Arctic is engineered to excel in the most arduous terrain and be equally at home in the Belfast cityscape.

Arctic Trucks is an Icelandic vehicle engineering specialist, developing and building 4x4s to conquer the most challenging conditions for over 25 years in Scandinavia. D-max Arctic will be the first Arctic Trucks pick-up that can be ordered directly from the UK dealer network, with one Arctic dealer in Northern Ireland — John Barr Cars in Crumlin. Advance bookings are already being taken for their demonstrator.

Enhanced running gear

Arctic introduces several key hardware enhancements, ensuring extraordinary off-road capability. Suspension is re-engineered with Fox Performance shocks matched to Nokian Rotiiva rubbers to grip in the most challenging conditions. Huge 35-inch tyres are engineered for off-roading, laced to mammoth 17in x 10in rims. Wide extended flares complete a securely planted and powerful look. Spacers lift the D-max body up 30mm over the standard model. Chassis modifi- cations ensure the wide track does not limit turning abilities.

Ride height is 125mm higher, increased ground clearance ensures greater approach, departure and break-over angles. Arctic is available in double-cab and extended-cab configurations. The double-cab model has full leather upholstery, as well as automatic climate control air-conditioning. Six speed manual or five speed auto harness traction with switchable 2/4WD high and 4WD low ratios standard. This is a seriously capable and well-equipped off-roader at a fraction of Evoque prices.

Optional accessories

Arctic exudes presence, a fusion of metal and motoring muscle. Building on the strong, durable platform of the multi-award winning D-max, in addition to high levels of standard equipment a comprehensive accessories list allows customers to spec their purchase uniquely.

Styling upgrades include an Arctic Trucks Truxedo that provides added cargo security, as well as sports bar for improved styling. Off-road extras such as a 27-LED square work light provides illumination under the darkest skies, skid plates enhance under-body protection, and an ARB tyre inflator keeps the most adventurous on their way. Customers can upgrade the infotainment system with DVD and European navigational system with 6.1-inch touch screen, reversing camera and Bluetooth handsfree.

Front and rear work bars accommodate winches and power take-offs, as well as class-leading 3.5 tonne towing. This toy relishes heavy duty labour, its core is an exceptional and reliable work- horse with proven low running costs and class-leading residuals. D-max has rightly earned its place as Northern Ireland’s favourite pick-up, now brimming with Nordic attitude.

There is nothing else in the UK market like Arctic. It is the finest of thoroughbreds with the heart of a true workhorse, seriously well priced. Exclusivity guaranteed. Isuzu has come a long way with the mighty D-max, this latest model looks certain to be another big winner. Arctic will surely send an icy shiver down the competition’s spine, and set the pick-up sector ablaze.
