SUBARU’S Levorg GT is the spir­i­tual suc­ces­sor of the Legacy tourer, the much loved and long-legged for­mer flag­ship es­tate of the Ja­panese man­u­fac­turer’s range. Levorg is an en­tirely new model devel­op­ing more power from a smaller, meaner tur­bocharged flat-four engine. Subaru have con­sis­tently out­sold Volk­swa­gen Audi and BMW com­bined in the Amer­i­can mar­ket and with Levorg have main­tained faith in the Brand’s unique de­sign DNA – sym­met­ri­cal All Wheel drive linked to a lowslung Boxer power plant.

Sit­ting just be­low the highly ca­pa­ble Out­back es­tate in their range, all-new Levorg GT is the lat­est ex­am­ple of Subaru’s ac­claimed engi­neer­ing at its finest. The sleek, lowslung, five door es­tate body swal­lows five adults and their lug­gage with ease. The cav­ernous leather-trimmed in­te­rior and high- end feel cabin bris­tles with all imag­in­able driver and safety aids as stan­dard that be­fits a cut­ting- edge Grand Tourer with a 5 star NCAP safety rat­ing.

Blind spot de­tec­tion alerts the driver to traf­fic ap­proach­ing from right-an­gles when re­vers­ing, dur­ing over­takes, or lane sway. Subaru’s highly re­spected Lin­eartronic gear­box is a sub­stan­tial stan­dard fea­ture on Levorg. It’s step­less, eco­nom­i­cal, highly re­li­able and de­light­ful to drive. Han­dling is im­pec­ca­ble. Levorg holds its line in all con­di­tions. Deep pud­dles are of more con­cern on North­ern Ire­land’s roads than ice and snow, and the Subaru sim­ply shrugs off stand­ing wa­ter where the com­pe­ti­tion search for trac­tion. Levorg in­stills con­fi­dence, with no baf­fling switches or levers to de­tract the serious driver.

Levorg is quiet and so­phis­ti­cated, re­spon­sive and sat­is­fy­ing.
