ARCTIC BLAST FOR NORTHERN IRELAND

Belfast Telegraph - NI Carfinder - - News -

Isuzu’s much-heralded new Arctic pickup has arrived at their sole Northern Ireland Arctic dealer, John Barr Cars in Crumlin and looks set to rewrite the rule book when it comes to having presence and attitude on the road.

This massive beast of a vehicle towers above everything else in the pick-up market and Arctic drivers look down on Range Rovers in traffic.

The standard D-max body — itself no shrinking violet — has been raised on chassis spacers, with massive 35” rim tyres sitting astride 10” wide rims. Widened wheel arches and forward chassis leg cutaways complete the looks without compromising the turning circle and steering lock. A massive anti-submarine towbar is standard, and the vehicle comes in 2.5 litre twin turbo pulling six manual gears or a five speed auto. The warranty remains Isuzu’s excellent 125,000 miles/five year package and towing capacity is the D-max’s class-leading 3.5 tonnes.

This is one mean truck, inside it shows its softer side with a full bespoke black leather upholstery package front and rear, with twin settings on the front heated seat controls.

Air-conditioning is standard, as is cruise, Bluetooth, all electric windows and switch on the fly 2WD to AWD with Hi and Lo ratios. D-max means business, the wide tread of the Arctic means a light off-road footprint will see it conquer Northern Ireland’s farming lands with ease and indeed the vehicle is available on the UFU Members’ Affinity programme from launch.

The tow bar takes a plethora of hitches to suit most needs and will accommodate winches and other PTO tooling. The Euro pallet swallowing rear can carry a range of canopies as well as a neat sliding load tray. The best of the accessories on offer includes Isuzu’s ‘Vision Pack’ which couples Euromap Satnav with a neat reverse camera that sits immediately above the towball for easy one-man trailer hitching. Digital lighting options, sports bar and under-guard trays are available for a bespoke owner experience.

Only accessories missing are a ladder for the altitudinally challenged to access the awesomely high driver cab and a monster interior mirror to capture the driver’s grin as he enjoys every stunning mile of ownership.

It’s a Hummer pick-up, a Chieftain tank for the urban commute, a street-legal missile launch towtruck. Under cover of total darkness Arctic is not going to sneak into town unnoticed. It’s not loud money — nor is it for shy retiring types.

Build quantity is four-to-six a week for the entire UK market so buyers are guaranteed exclusivity and stellar residuals. Arctic is surely going to rewrite the rule book, its stablemate D-max is already firmly established as the No.1 best seller in Northern Ireland and Arctic will further strengthen Isuzu’s worthy dominance of the sector.

There’s already a lead time of eight weeks so best get to John Barr Cars Crumlin quickly, and place your order.

This winter, those drivers lucky enough to be in the Arctic are going to have a warm inner glow!

The new Isuzu Arctic is expected to be a big seller for John Barr (above)
