SUBARU LAYS DOWN EYESIGHT GAUNTLET
THE 2017 Subaru Levorg Grand Tourer estate get even safer with the addition of Eyesight, Subaru’s unique advanced collision avoidance technology. Eyesight has delivered a massive 61% accident reduction on Subaru Outback (previously the only model to have Subaru’s stereoscopic camera safety system fitted) and is widely recognised as the class-leading automotive collision avoidance system. New Levorg becomes the fifth Subaru to score Euro NCAP’S prestigious five-star rating.
Eyesight features six technologies to maximise safety: Pre- Collision Braking, Pre- Collision Throttle Management, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Departure & Sway Warning, Pre- Collision Steering Assist, and Lead Vehicle Start Alert. Eyesight is considered to be like having a second pair of expert eyes beside you in the car, constantly monitoring the road ahead for dangers and able to emergency brake completely autonomously if required.
Eyesight functions entirely optically. Subaru have placed camera lenses to the left and right of the rear-view mirror that create a stereoscopic image to identify hazards and maximise safety for vehicle occupants and other road users. The Insurance Industry love Eyesight rating it “Best in Class” and have slashed insurance premiums on Eyesight fitted Subarus.
Up to a speed of 28mph accidents can be completely avoided and severity significantly reduced at higher speeds. At the bottom end of the speed scale slow traffic “stop-start” bumps can be completely eradicated as Eyesight prevents a distracted driver from colliding into the rear of the car in front in queuing traffic. Such incidents are common at urban roundabouts and the frustrations getting repair quotes, loan cars, form filling and liability disputes can all be avoided.
“Eyesight never tires or blinks. It’s the biggest leap forward in vehicle safety technology for a very long time and raises the standard for the industry” said Subaru UK Managing Director Paul Hegarty on his most recent visit to Belfast. “Vehicle occupants and fellow road users safety are all enhanced – Eyesight can pick out brake lights, cyclists and pedestrians and warn the driver of imminent dangers ahead.”
“Only Subaru offer symmetrical All Wheel Drive cars powered by low-slung Boxer engines for maximum grip and safety, at everyday prices. With Eyesight we’ve set a new standard, competitor systems use radar and microwave technology that neither “see” the road nor interpret dangers, the American Insurance Association rate competitors as effective at best up to 13mph”.
“Subaru’s pioneering technology has raised the bar, again. Levorg was introduced to the UK barely a year ago with side impact detection technology fitted as standard to enhance safety when reversing in supermarket car parks, and lane-changing. Now with Eyesight as standard equipment Levorg GT is probably the world’s most advanced and technologically protected car available on the road today. Driving is of course believing, so for a warm welcome and no-obligation demonstration of Eyesight visit any of our three NI Subaru specialists Eastwood Motors in Lisburn, Western Cars Enniskillen, Gormley Motors Dungannon, or visit www.subaru.co.uk. We Subaru we never forget, your safety is no accident.”
