THE Randalstown and Campsie family-run business which is wholly owned by John and Alicia Mulholland have set a benchmark for success that leaves many large PLC run Skoda businesses wondering what the magic ingredient is to John’s success.
In a scorecard Skoda scrutinises monthly and measures with every aspect of the business be it new or used car sales, sales satisfaction surveys, aftersales customer satisfaction, workshop performance, parts sales, profitability and staff development to name but a few, John and his team have once again surmounted all odds to become the UK’S very best.
To put this achievement into context, there are 127 Skoda retailers in the UK selling over 80,000 new cars annually. Some of the PLC’S running their Skoda businesses have an annual turnover in excess of 4 billion pounds! Skoda retailers who are located in major cites such as London, Birmingham, Manchester, Edinburgh etc enjoy populations in the millions from which to draw their customer base. In comparison, John Mulholland Skoda Randalstown sits among a village population of 4500 residents with access to a total Northern Ireland population of 1.8 million which is miniscule comparred to London’s 8.8 million.
Speaking after the award ceremony held this year at London‘s prestigious Royal Albert Hall, Managing Director John Mul- holland was beaming with pride.
“To achieve this demanding award once in a company’s history is amazing given the fact that every aspect of our business must perform at almost 100% consistently for a full year. To achieve it twice in three years is totally remarkable and then to follow that up again for a third year is nothing short of phenomenal.”
When asked how such high standards are maintained, John simply stated “3 P’s. Persistence, Passion and People. Everyone at John Mulholland Motors is passionate and proud of what we achieve; the valetors, technicians, admin staff, service advisors, sales executives and management all have a part to play. Without the right people it would be impossible. We nurture, train and encourage everyone in our business to be the very best they can be but of course none of this would be possible without our customers.”
“From the moment a customer walks through our doors we aim to provide them with the best; the best advice, the best service, the best choice and the best value, all in a friendly professional manner. We have always (and will continue) to go that extra mile to make our customers feel special, after all without them there is no John Mulholland Motors. I would like to thank each and every customer past and present for giving myself and my staff the opportunity to demonstrate our award-winning service.”
John Mulholland Motors Randalstown and Campsie transact over 3,500 vehicle sales annually and continue to go from strength to strength. The business has been trading since 1988 making it a bumper year for celebration as John explains: “The birth of our first daughter, Alicia was the catalyst 30 years ago when I decided to form the business. This year not only marks her 30th birthday but also 30 years in business and now winning the UK No.1 Skoda Retailer for a third time is the cherry on her birthday cake.”
John and Alicia will soon jet off to Madagascar as VIP guests where they will receive a further award from the Global Directors of Skoda in recognition of their outstanding performance.
