Belfast Telegraph - Weekend - - COMPETITIONS -

Family life for me as a child was about myself and my sister, Dawn. We are not only close in age, but good friends too. We shared many things in life, from boxes of Milk Tray on our birthdays to, as we got older, clothes and make-up.

Now, Dawn is my favourite person to shop, socialise and go on holiday with... along with my 16-year-old son, Pierce, who just happens to be an only child.

We hear from some wellknown people here who don’t have any siblings and how this has shaped their lives.

As I have seen from Pierce, only children are independent, rather than spoilt — a quality to be admired.
