Belfast Telegraph - Weekend - - UPDATE - KEVIN FAY

1. What is your earliest memory?

My earliest memory is losing my orange bomber jacket in nursery school. I loved that jacket and cried for a whole day. It was never found so I got a new one.

2. Who is the most important person in your life?

My fiance Karen. We have been together for just over five and a half years. We actually met when Karen attended my first boxing fitness class back in 2011 and 10 months later we were going out.

3. Shock us — tell us something surprising about yourself

I’m 41 years old and getting married for the first and only time on November 9, 2017!

4. What is your greatest fear?

I’m really scared of heights. I used to be a welder and worked on building sites. I always had the dreaded fear of climbing ladders and scaffolding, which I wasn’t too fond of doing!

5. What makes you most happy?

Coaching young boxers and seeing them progress inside and outside of the ring. Good food also makes me very happy!

6. And your biggest regret?

I tend not to regret anything as everything in life happens for a reason and if it’s meant for you it won’t go past you.

7. How do you chill out?

In my Superman onesie, in front of the TV with a good movie and munchies with Karen and Cassie.

8. What’s the most important lesson you have learned in your life?

No matter how impossible or far off anything seems, you should never ever give up.

9. The book, the song and the film that mean the most to you, and why?

Book: The Quiet Man. I love the fact that it’s about a boxer who moves back to rural Ireland in the ‘20s and rebuilds his life. Song: Metallica, Nothing Else Matters because it’s mine and Karen’s favourite song and at the end of the day nothing else matters. Film: Rocky, starring Sylvester Stallone, as it’s a story about an underdog going on to win a fight and everyone loves an underdog. Rocky never gave up. This movie resonates with me as I’m so passionate about boxing and, as a coach, bringing out the best in my boxers.

10. If you could change one thing about yourself what would it be and why?

My hair, because I’d like more of it!
