Little Weronika benefits from generosity of Co Antrim firm

- BY STAFF REPORTER

A BIG-hearted Northern Ireland company has fundraised to supply equipment for a Fermanagh tot with such a serious progressive condition that she needs to attend regular hospital appointments in Belfast.

Little Weronika Martyniw from Lisnaskea, Co Fermanagh, who turns two in October, has a condition called Gangliosidosis, type 1 that affects her brain and body.

She regularly travels to Enniskillen and Belfast for check-ups and treatment — but as she isn’t able to sit or hold her head up without support, she needed a specialist car seat to prevent her from slumping to one side during journeys. The new seat has additional side and head supports and reclines back so her head can’t fall forward thanks to fundraisers at Briggs Equipment in Newtownabbey, Co Antrim.

Briggs has adopted Newlife the Charity for Disabled Children as its charity of the year.
