Belfast Telegraph - - NEWS -

THE Arts Council has bestowed its highest honour on four Northern Irish artists.

Major Individual Awards are worth £15,000 each and aim to give artists time to dedicate themselves to their creative work.

Recipients this year are composer Professor Piers Hellawell, playwright Shannon Sickels (Yee), performance artist Sinead O’Donnell and visual artist Mairead McClean.

NI Arts Council chief executive Roisin McDonough said: “Congratulations to these four immensely talented artists, who have already made an enormous contribution to the arts in Northern Ireland.”
