Belfast food safety com­pany is named best new start-up

A FOOD safety firm that aims to pro­tect the agri­food sup­ply chain has been named best new-start com­pany in a com­pe­ti­tion run by In­terTradeIre­land.

Belfast-based Xeno­bics Ltd took home a prize of €20,000 as part of its vic­tory in cross-bor­der trade body Seed­corn’s in­vestor readi­ness com­pe­ti­tion. Phar­ma­ceu­ti­cal firm Phion Ther­a­peu­tics, also based in Belfast, was named best early-stage com­pany in the com­pe­ti­tion, also win­ning a prize of €20,000, while Gray’s Clip in Lis­burn won a special award of €10,000 for its par­tic­i­pa­tion in a sup­port pro­gramme.

The win­ning com­pa­nies will com­pete in an all-is­land fi­nal in Dublin next Wed­nes­day.
