Hornets happy to net Deulofeu from Barca

- BY ROBERT JONES

Gerard Deulofeu has signed for Watford from Barcelona for an initial £11.4m.

The 24-year-old Spanish ace spent the second half of last season on loan at Vicarage Road, scoring once in seven Premier League appearances.

Deulofeu will now return on a five-year contract after Barcelona confirmed the transfer yesterday.

Watford chairman Scott Duxbury said: “We are pleased to welcome Gerard back and thank Barcelona for their part in this deal. It was the two injured stars who combined to level, Hazard’s scuffed shot making its way to Mertens, who finished coolly.

Lukaku grabbed his first to put the hosts ahead before he angled a beautiful header past Keylor Navas to make it three.

And the imposing striker wasn’t finished there as he unselfishly set up Michy Batshuayi for the fourth to seal the win.

This was a warning shot to group rivals England, who will have been watching closely.

Meanwhile, Celtic defender Cristian Gamboa has revealed that his main aim is to perform well for Costa Rica in the World Cup and help his country qualify from the group stage.

Costa Rica sprung a surprise in Brazil four years ago by navigating out of a group which featured England, Uruguay and It-
