Pair held as car stolen in creeper theft

TWO men were ar­rested af­ter po­lice re­cov­ered a car stolen in a creeper-style bur­glary.

The ve­hi­cle was taken in the Old­park area of north Belfast in the early hours of yes­ter­day.

PSNI of­fi­cers ar­rested a 25-year-old and a 24-year-old on sus­pi­cion of bur­glary and tak­ing and driv­ing away.

Chief In­spec­tor Kelly Moore said: “Po­lice mak­ing fol­low-up in­quiries into an ear­lier in­ci­dent, dis­cov­ered that a Volk­swa­gen Polo had been stolen from a prop­erty dur­ing a creeper-style bur­glary in the Old­park area.

“The car was sighted just be­fore 12 midday (on Fri­day) by po­lice, but made off with­out stop­ping.

“A short time later, of­fi­cers on pa­trol lo­cated the ve­hi­cle in the Mount Ver­non area and ar­rested two males nearby.

“They are both cur­rently help­ing with our in­quiries.

“We have and will con­tinue to take stolen cars off the streets, ar­rest of­fend­ers and bring them be­fore the courts.”
