Congestion worse than pronunciation
FOLLOWING Nelson McCausland’s interesting column (Comment, February 7) regarding the pronunciation of ‘Sandyknowes’, I was reminded of a comment from my very witty father, Ken Cardwell, who lives in Richhill in Co Armagh, after the two of us heard the traffic and travel bulletin one afternoon in the car.
The bulletin, as it frequently does, mentioned that there was heavy congestion at the Sandyknowes roundabout.
My father said: “I have no idea where Sandyknowes roundabout is, but I do know I never want to go there.”
