Berkshire Life - - HOME IN ON DESIGN -

We now have the builder back on board and are progressing renovations on a large family home in Cookham. The living room will be transformed into a more comfortable, relaxing space, plus the playroom and study reworked to suit the ever-changing family requirements. We are just starting a master bedroom, again in Cookham, and I am really looking forward to working with my clients on these projects. Other ongoing projects are being accessorised with lighting, rugs and furniture – the finishing touches be near lighting). They can also make the space look bigger and reflect the view from the window if placed in the right position.

A textured carpet is warm and cosy for a bedroom, or at least a large rug. Soft, neutral colours work well in this room as they are relaxing and easy on the eye. Soft furnishings for the windows are especially important – either curtains or blinds, depending on the shape of the window, and blackout linings are usually a good choice as they prevent the light from getting through the fabric. It may be an idea to upgrade the radiators if you have the older bulkier ones – there’s a great range of flat panel ones available now that look incredibly stylish, either placed under windows (usually the coldest part of the room) or where they won’t affect the use of walls.

Don’t forget the finishing touches for this room either as you spend a lot of time in it. Cushions, artistically arranged, look very welcoming and a throw across the foot of the bed really finishes the look; you could go for a stronger accent colour here. Bedding too is so important – both for the look and the feel. It is worth investing in this – I love Quagglotti (quagliotti1933.it)

Do you have a favourite hotel that you have stayed at? Or seen something on a website while browsing that you have fallen in love with? I can help you create the bedroom by sourcing similar items for you. Email me a photograph or details and we can recreate your perfect space.
