We should all be aiming for a well-balanced diet, and carbohydra­tes can be a healthy and essential part of that. Try not to think of foods as simply bad or good – many foods are a combinatio­n of both, rather than simply one or the other. Breakfast cereal, for example, can be quite high in ‘bad’ sugar but may also contain plenty of ‘good’ nutrients, such as vitamins and fibre.
