You certainly can teach a dog new tricks. It may sound barking, but Penny is a dog who can spell. Her owner, Leonora, has managed to teach her pup how to spell its name with plastic letters. She has recorded Penny fetching colourful letters from a pile and bringing them back to her owner. The clever canine then receives a treat each time she gets the letter correct. In order to make the task more difficult, Leonora even puts in a few incorrect letters to throw Penny off the scent. Penny, who is a mix of miniature pinscher and rat terrier, has quite an extensive vocabulary and can spell out D- O- G, too.
