How the GMB star dropped two dress sizes
Kate Garraway has transformed herself, and is looking better than ever after dropping two dress sizes. Appearing extremely svelte, the 50-year-old showed off her cinched-in waist and toned pins wearing a green River Island playsuit and black tights last week on Good Morning Britain.
While the mum-of-two has never been big, she looked tiny compared to when she stepped out on the red carpet at the National Television Awards in 2016 in a red boob-tube dress.
The GMB presenter revealed exclusively to best the surprising secret to her new figure.
She said, ‘I put it down to avocado. I have at least one every day. I think that helps, as the fat makes me feel full.’
Dietician Helen Bond told best, ‘Kate, who is 5ft 3in, appeared to be a size 14 and probably 10 ½ st before. She’s definitely lost weight, and looks nearer 9 ½ st now and a size 10.’
Kate also admitted she has made a more conscious effort to look after herself since turning 50 last year, even ditching the booze for Dry January – and the results are clear for all to see.
She explained, ‘I went on a campaign to work out the best way to be fit and healthy for the rest of [my] life. It can be a real roller coaster where you’re reaching for chocolate bars to perk yourself up.
‘I did Dry January, then, by accident, I didn’t drink very much in February because I had a bug. Having done Dry January, I’m now much more conscious of everything I drink. Before, at parties, I’d drink it because it was there. So I am trying to really enjoy my alcohol now, rather than just having it because it’s in front of me.’
While Kate, who starts work at 3am, struggles to fit in gym sessions, she still makes sure she is active every day.
‘I find the gym logistically complicated, but I try to pack in as much exercise as I can into the day. If I go to a meeting, then I walk there quickly. I do at least 20 minutes of fast walking a day, even if it’s just down to the school gates.’
But Kate also admitted to a sneaky way of making herself look even slimmer.
‘I have got a complete cheat,’ she revealed. ‘I put shoulder pads into dresses. If you are a bit curvy, then it balances you out. I bought some online, and I’ve been sneaking them into outfits. It makes you look more in proportion.’
